SHJ Mourns Journal Editor Ruth Duskin Feldman
Farmington Hills, MI, May 18, 2015 – The Society for Humanistic Judaism (SHJ) grieves the death of Ruth Duskin Feldman, long-time editor of the SHJ journal, Humanistic Judaism. We offer our deepest condolences to her husband, Gilbert Feldman and her entire family. Her contribution to the intellectual discourse of our movement is great. The SHJ is honored to be one of the recipients of donations in memory of Ruth Duskin Feldman. Ruth Duskin Feldman was a professional writer and lecturer and a madrikha, (ceremonialist). She was the Editor of the Society’s journal, Humanistic Judaism since 1983. A former public school teacher, she taught Sunday school for ten years and served as curriculum consultant and as a bar/bat mitzvah tutor for humanistic congregations in the Chicago suburbs. She was a member of Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation, along with her husband, Gilbert. Ms. Feldman was the 2014 recipient of the Sherwin T. Wine Lifetime Achievement Award.
